About incQbait

IncQbait was born from a frustrating period of fishing. Frustrated by the fact that I was not catching fish (carp) when I really should have been. I have spent many an hour on the bank with different off the shelf baits, all resulting in inconsistent catches.

I took some time out, away from fishing for a short while, still keeping my ear to the ground but just getting a breather.

It was during this down time I read up about the advantages of making your own baits, reading about the legend that is Rod Hutchinson, his bait ingredient discoveries and what makes a carp feed, and what attracts them. Ive also read and listened to a chap who works at CC Moore, who has his own view on palatants and attractions too and even has some small videos on you tube. The videos do not give away secrets, but they do give an insight as to what to look for, and, if like me you have half a brain cell, you can also discover how to put your own boilies together. As stated, there are no secrets in the videos but they hint very well as to where to look. The super market is a great place to start.

Armed with small amount of knowledge, I set about a shopping trip and gathered some ingredients and put together  two small pots of boilies.

After drying them out over a few days, I tested them at a water I knew nothing about. My first day out after the break and...at a new water. I had no idea of the venue. I just turned up and used my watercraft knowledge to find the non showing carp. Within half an hour the first rod took off. Unfortunately I had a hook pull, but after resetting the next fish came within ten minutes and was landed. Over the course of 3 hours I landed another four fish on my own bait. My research and gamble had paid off.

IncQbait was born.

Over the course of the last 3 years, incQbait has slowly been getting itself together. My drive being to catch carp has been slowly but surely ramping up. Its not about the biggest fish for me, its about the joy of catching. Carp are big fish anyway, and on the right day at the right time, and a bit of luck, a big carp is coming our way. We haven't caught every session, but we have caught more fish than ever before. I now have a team of lads who have been brilliant, catching and giving input as to what we could do with a bait, or have put forward ideas for flavours, one in particular has recently been what I can only say as amazing. Our biggest fish into 2018 was a 32lb common carp from clay gate fisheries in kent. Pleasing to say the least. but now into 2020, despite the lockdown of covid 19, its now 42lb, caught by Craig Grant on a family fishing trip. Needless to say we are having a marvelous time/run of catching carp into to upper 20's and lower 30's.

All have been different, but all have been great.

A massive thanks to Scott Cook, Dave Cook, Josh Mayes and Craig Grant. Recent new comers to the team are Sam Butler and Chris Shenton. Sam has had a flying start already,  so now we look forward to seeing some fish from Chris.

Also thanks to my significant other half, Dina. Thanks for putting up with the bad and interesting smells during the making and boiling of these baits and having boilie dough shoved under your nose to get an idea of the smell (as Ive gone nose blind to it all) and please don't worry the workshop is almost complete.

This year, in 2020, we are hoping to aim higher despite the current world issues, adding more bait testers to the team. and getting the name out there, but not too loudly, because people are already asking about us! Where can they get this bait? I'm afraid you can wait good sir.

IncQbait is also currently undergoing a few changes on the business front..the biggest being the construction of our small bait making shop. Its an exciting time. Its all on going with so much to do still. We'll keep you posted.

thanks for reading and tight lines.
