The Team

Scott Cook:

Scott was the very first angler to join us here at IncQbait, about 3 years ago, when gaffer, Jay Edwards decided to launch his Carp bait brainchild. Scott responded to a few pictures Jay had posted via Instagram, aiming to get the bait out there, and Scott, despite being unsure the bait would work dove in and struck a friendship up that has helped push the bait maker and the team forward to this day. Scott is now head of bait testing for IncQbait. If there are issues or uncertainties with any bait, Scott is the first voice to talk about possible changes or revisions that help produce a good bait that's good for the carp to eat, but also keep it consistent time after time for catching.

Scott started fishing at a young age. he recalls getting his first rod around 4/5 years old. He caught his first personal best carp of 15 lb at 10 years old, using his Dad's gear and a few grains of corn. An occasion he doesn't forget, neither does his Dad for nicking his equipment. Scott continued fishing for carp, smashing a few matches too on the pole. He then, like most teens lost interest in a hobby at 15 to persue other 'interests' but returned to the sport a couple of years later. As Scott put it, he had all the gear, but had no idea. He started to fish the river Trent for carp and still fishes it to this day with great results. A few years later he joined a local lake and learned the art of tying rigs properly and set about catching a PB common of 21 lb and 12oz, then followed it up with the biggest common in the lake at that time called Split Tail at 22.2 lb. Scott says, 'The lake had Mirror Carp in but they weren't having any of it'. Then to add insult to injury the lake closed. But as we all know, every cloud has a silver lining, as Scott is now a member of a wild lake that houses some good upper 20's and also 30's, some of which he is hoping to add to his list of growing catches.

Dave Cook:

Our man Dave is a fishing machine, and has had a terrific year with us here at IncQbait, testing non stop. Known here at IncQbait HQ as the ' Rain Man', as a few of the very successful sessions he has had, has been hit by bad weather, even during the summer when the incredible heat wave finally gave way to  heavy rains.
Dave was introduced and recommended to us by son Scott. Dave has been fishing for 40 years, starting on the Thames near the Pangborne area fishing matches for a club. He stopped fishing for 10 or so years to concentrate on his family, but started back on the circuit after a move to Chesterfield which coincided with joining a club to participate in course fishing but at the same time, began catching carp. Three years or so ago, Dave caught the carp bug big time and started after the larger species more seriously, putting aside the course fishing. Dave has spent time Spain fishing for large catfish and Carp. His largest catfish being over 178 lb and 3 common carp of over 30lb. His largest mirror carp to date on domestic waters, being 21 lb 10 oz.
Dave was originally using some well known baits by a very well known bait company, but in his own words says ' I've caught a few fishing 'their' bait but just not as many as I have on the stuff made by IncQbait, and I haven't looked back'.

Josh Mayes:

Josh's passion for fishing started at a young age on a local pond with his Dad, pleasure angling for what ever species would take the bait.

As Josh got older, he became more and more interested in Carp fishing, wanting to catch the big species. At the age of 10, he caught his first Pb of 14lb. A weight which would stay for quite a while. By the time Josh was 15, he had all the carp gear, and was able to fish over nighters with his Dad and a friend, but sadly Josh grew bored over time, and lost interest at 17 and sold his gear. By the time he reached 19, Josh started getting the bug again and set about picking up new equipment and began fishing local waters that were well stocked but with smaller fish. With the buzz of carp fishing now back, Josh made sure he bought all the correct equipment and set about doing longer sessions, travelling around, catching good fish and enjoying it. He later joined a syndicate, breaking his PB on numerous occasions. His current PB, a 33 pound Mirror carp, was caught a week before he joined IncQbait. Since joining the team, Josh has been a key tester for us, catching some stunning fish and giving feedback on the baits to help improve and move forward. He like the rest of the team are hoping that 2020 brings us good fortune and more PBs.

Craig 'B.A' Grant:
Craig is the latest recruit to IncQbait, starting with us just before the extreme heats of 2019. Craig started his fishing at aged 6. His desire to catch carp began at aged 12 after catching a 9lb carp.

Following a break of a few years, due to work commitments, Craig got back on the bank and didn't look back. His best captures so far are, a 28lb common carp, a 20lb leather carp and his PB mirror of 24lb 8oz, which was caught on his first weekend using IncQbait boilies and pop ups and which happened to be a PB too. Craig has now smashed his current PB by 12lb, catching a rather large common called Bonzo at exactly 42lb. Happy days.

Jay Edwards:

Jay started fishing at the age of 4, with his Father and also Grandfather. His Grandfather was big into Pike fishing and won numerous competitions, from which Jay still keeps the trophies safe to this day and also his Grandfathers old cane rods.

Jay, 50, is the founder and Gaffer of IncQbait, creating the bait company from the sheer frustration of inconsistent catches from what he calls 'go-to baits'

"Although IncQbait is a new kid on the block to the bait game, we've been doing a lot of research in the last 3 years on what makes a bait work. We aren't looking to be the best bait out there, but we are looking to be consistent. The research and application of ingredients to our bait has pretty much concluded that fish are like humans in their dietary needs, they may have a different digestive system and so on, but like us, they require a varied amount of proteins and carbies, and of course flavors. If you keep feeding them the same stuff, they will eventually get bored, work it out and not go for it, especially boilies. Results in our catches has concluded taste has been more reactive as opposed to overall smell, water has a massive effect on it too,  although the initial attraction of a bait must be there, our baits don’t initially give off a sweet or sour smell that a lot of baits seem to do when you open a pot or a bag...less is definitely more in my opinion.  Not giving too much away, we have also registered that certain coloured baits are superb, and I am not talking the regular beige, greyish or fluros. All our tests have taken place on various lakes around the country, not in tanks, although that will be the future of our testing in the slower part of the season (winter) Yes we have had blank days, but those have been very few and with what has been produced, we can only smile at the resulting efforts. IncQbait is going to continue to improve its bait and its longevity. The overall aim is for the Angler, whose time is precious, albeit it work, family or other commitments to get out there and have a damn good day or night on the bank, enjoy it and catch maybe a PB or just catch and go home happy. That’s all.”
